Zézé Gamboa’s The Hero (Angola/Portugal/France) received the World Cinema Dramatic Grand Jury Prize. Carla Baptista wrote the film which tells the tale of a 20-year veteran of the Angolan civil war who returns to the capital city of Luanda where he faces the challenges of assimilation and survival. "To a director with his first feature film and coming from an unknown part of the world, Angola, Africa where there is no film industry this is an incredible honor," Gamboa said in a prepared statement read by his sales agent.
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." Steve Jobs
